Hello all!

We're getting a lot closer to unlocking two more stretch goals! Once we reach 500 backers, special options will be unlocked for character creation called origin templates.

What is an Origin Template?

Origin templates are an optional expansion of a character's background that determines a character's traits. Each origin template is connected to a character's social, educational, or ancestral development- providing new features that characters gain at certain levels. Examples of these features may be a skill specialty, a physical trait, an optional class feature, or a feat only available to characters with a specific template.

For example, a character who was raised  in the realm of Arkenvale can gain traits that deal with areas of varying dimensions and gravity, while an arcane student from Renvorith has access to spells or magical abilities unique to their specific template.

Stretch Goal and Backer Poll

Origin templates are unlocked once the campaign reaches 500 backers. In addition to the standard templates provided in the adventure series, you have the opportunity to select a special, dual-genre template that can be applied to either a fantasy-based character from Thalis, or a sci-fi themed space explorer.

As noted in the last update, the poll will be backer-only and becomes available at the same time that the stretch goal is unlocked. 

Here's a preview of the available options:

Remote Origin

•  Wastelander (Thalis Native): You hail from the wastelands beyond Elsever, a nomad in the  chaotic wastes. You've inherited mutations that allow you to adapt to  strange energies and can navigate an ever-shifting landscape afflicted  by the magical cataclysm
•  Feral Worlder (Space Explorer): You’re from a world whose society is cut off from the rest of the galaxy by tradition, lack of technological advancement, or both. You have a greater understanding of less-advanced civilizations and can call upon practical experience when technology can’t be relied upon.

Mysterious Origin

•  Blood of the Ancients (Thalis Native): The blood of far-away travellers from other worlds runs through your family. Your ancestral lineage has always held innate psionic abilities most others assume to be magical in nature.
•  Galactic Magician (Space Explorer): Your practice of esper powers have always been more mystical than logical and shrouded in bizarre ritual. This variant practice presents alternate effects from commonly known esper powers and abilities.

Enlightened Origin

•  Magitech Savant (Thalis Native): Through your upbringing or training, you have a greater affinity for use of magitech tools and items. You also have a greater understanding of advanced sciences and otherworldly cultures.
•  Conceptual Visionary (Space Explorer): You’ve been exposed to technology and lore from many different worlds and can see beyond the line that separates technology and science from magic and mysticism.

We passed the 30K mark and with that, are introducing a host of challenging new monsters and intriguing NPCs to the setting content. The addition of these new creatures and organizations also expands the lore of both the Veiled Realms and the Aldor System.

Thank you all for your continued excitement and support which helps us build this campaign saga into something even more amazing!

Surprise Backer Goal

We also passed the 400 backer mark with 23 days still left to go! In addition to the Pledge Total goals, we're also introducing a 500 backer milestone stretch goal, unlocking campaign-specific Origin Templates players can use to customize their characters. The nature of the templates will be decided by backers via an exclusive poll.

Poll details will be announced within the next couple of days in a special "backers-only" update, so stay tuned!

Setting Overview: The Veiled Realms

Hello all!

In this update, we'll reveal a little more about the fantasy genre side of the adventure setting.

Fall of Thalis

Years after the legendary heroes returned victorious from the Barriers, a war between the Principalities of Thalis resulted in a magical cataclysm that transformed the nation into a twisted wasteland of shifting landscapes. The land of Elsever, at the foot of the Barriers, became the a refuge for survivors who escaped the devastation.

The fallout from the conflict caused the collapse of the ruling body, leaving the people to fend for themselves. While survival was at the forefront, for some, the war would never be over.

The Veiled Realms

Using magitech artifacts scoured from the Barrier ruins, new domains rose from the wastelands. Concealed to the normal eye, these realms are connected by arcane gateways built along the Valley of the Ancients.

•  Kammria: This collection of towns is built along floating landmasses connected by gleaming bridges. The primarch oversees the realm from a silver tower in the center of a secluded fortress.
•  Arkenvale: Built from the remains of the immortal city of Arkendis, a cluster of towns runs along a lakefront. Beneath the townships is an underground metropolis where the gravity is inverted.
•  Renvorith: North of the Barriers are the Icedarks, a mountain region where the rocky surface is made of a dark, crystalline rock with pale mists seemingly swirling beneath the surface. A multi-level city is built into the rock face. Near the top sits Astrafal, a rival magic school to the famous Hearthglow Academy.
•  Evoseria: This realm covers a broad stretch of restored badlands. Lush forests and fields surround the Moonstar Mount, where the primarch and their circle of green wizards maintain the balance and defend the realm from the denizens of the surrounding wastes.
•  Celes: Deep beneath the mountain chains, the twilight fey rule and guard this realm under the guidance of the primordial spirits that dwell here. At the edge of the realm are a maze of tunnels whose walls are etched with a living history of the world.

After an amazing start, we hit our funding goal with 27 days still left to go! Our sincerest and heartfelt Thank You to all of you for making this possible.

Of course, this means we're just getting started. Now we get to work toward unlocking stretch goals, adding additional adventure and setting content, expanded monsters, character features, and a few extra surprises along the way!

The Veiled Realms Revealed

As the campaign progresses, we'll reveal more about the setting in which the adventure series takes place.  You'll also learn more about the wonderfully talented designers contributing to the project.
